REVIEW: Eternal Hunter by Cynthia Eden

Eternal HunterAssistant DA Erin Jerome has a secret. Make that two. One: She's not entirely human-she's Other, desperately trying to keep her supernatural strength under wraps. Two: she's got a killer stalking her-an Other rogue set on "gifting" her bloody corpses, not to mention nights lying awake in terror. Small wonder she's been having bad luck with men.
But the bounty hunter on her new case isn't worried about any of that. Jude Donovan is a shapeshifter himself, and the new DA's midnight hair and addictive scent tell him all he thinks he needs to know: She's gorgeous, she's definitely not human, and she's bringing out the animal in him in a really good way. He might have to track a psychotic Other stalker through half of Louisiana. But he might also get the chance to watch Erin's wild side come out and play. Adult Paranormaol Romance

REVIEW:
There are so many Paranormal Romance books out right now it's hard to find something original. Eternal Hunter does follow the formula of instant attraction and steamy sex scenes but this book stands out from the rest.
Both Erin and Jude's characters are well developed. Erin is a smart and strong heroine....not one who says she smart and strong, but then turns into a bumbling idiot once the action starts. That's rare these days in this type of book. Jude isn't the neanderthal shifter trying to mark his territory. He actually wants to get to know Erin and respects her strength and brains.
Erin is a shifter hybrid that is unable to shift. Thinking Erin is weak, her mother abandoned her at an early age leaving Erin to believe she isn't worthy of love. Too strong to be with humans but not a pure shifter, she tries to focus on her career as a lawyer and forget about having a personal life. Add to that a psychotic shifter who thinks she is his mate, and is willing to kill anyone who gets close to her.
Jude is a strong - and rare - type of shapeshifter that can handle anything Erin throws at him. He may be the one person who can stop the killer who's haunted Erin and help her realize she's not a damaged shifter, but something powerful and worthy.
I love how the relationship developed between these two. It wasn't just an animal attraction type of thing. There was love, trust and respect between them. The story was original with a few twists and the action fast paced. The secondary characters were also good and I suspect this will become a series.
Loved: fresh twist on the PR genre, well written
Nitpick: I would have liked to know a little more background on what Erin is and what it means to the future of all shapeshifters

Rating: 3.5 out of 4 Great story - great romance!
